Dennis James

Dennis James is presently a New York State Licensed Massage Therapist and an Associate in Ortho-Bionomy®.

As a professional musician for over 40 years he has had the good fortune to work with some of the world’s greatest musicians and ensembles. Dennis has held the position of Principal Bass with the Montreal Symphony and Minnesota Orchestra. He has worked extensively with the New York Philharmonic, the Orpheus Ensemble and performed with jazz artists such as Hank Jones, Peter Leitch, Bill Mays, Sam Noto, John Clayton, Abbey Lincoln, Herb Ellis and Barney Kessel. His CD ‘TrioConcertant’ won a NAIRD award for best recording of the year.

A graduate of the Swedish Institute, Dennis also has a certificate of completion of a one year course of study on Chinese medical aromatherapy with the venerable Jeffrey C Yuen. In 2006 Dennis formed the healthcare group ‘NY Hands Will Travel’, presenting workshops with the sole purpose of educating musicians and non-musicians alike on ‘Injury Prevention and Recovery’. Various articles are designed with that same purpose in mind. Dennis has worked at some of the best spas in New York (Exhale, Equinox, and Paris Health Club), but is now focusing more on a private clientele and volunteering his time to those in need. He is very comfortable working with cancer patients, has had great success in treating issues such as Bell’s Palsy, Lyme disease, COPD, athletic injuries and clients of all ages. He offers all of his clients specific self-care options in order to empower themselves in the healing process.
